Seed packet designs
For most of my designs I made vintage seed packets! I really like the vintage botanical look that older seed packets have, so that is what I tried to replicate.
I also created some seed packets that have a mushroom theme to them. (If you don’t know how the mycelial network and fungi affect your garden then you need to read this post to gain a better appreciation for your garden’s mycelial network.)
Here are some of the packets that I made with a simple greenery look to them!
I really like this packet with a rabbit on it and I think he looks interested in all those vegetables. Maybe I should name this packet “Rabbit’s Dream” (LOL).
Finally, I created some seed packet designs that are very minimal and get the job done! These packets are great to print if you are wanting to conserve printer ink.
How to use these free printables
You can grab these free printable seed packet designs below. Once you have entered your email address these seed packets will be sent directly to your inbox (you may have to check your spam or junk folder though).
Once you get your email you can click the button to open up a PDF file with these seed packets! Next, you will need to print these designs.
If you have your own printer, you can simply print these at home. If you don’t own a printer, you can go to your local library or office supply store to get these printed. I printed these seed packet designs at my library and they were very reasonably priced.
How to assemble the seed packets
To assemble these free seed packets you are going to need to grab a pair of scissors, a glue stick, and your printed designs. First, cut out the seed packet following the black lines.
Next, fold in the side flaps and bottom flap creasing it along the black line.
Use a glue stick and apply glue to the two side flaps and quickly fold the back flap down on the glue.
Allow the seed packet to dry and then you can fold the top flap down.
Now you have a great way to store your own seeds! Simply fill the packets with your favorite seeds and seal the top with glue or tape!
Ways to use these free seed packets
The seed packets with the botanical art work do have lines on the back of the seed packet. This is where you can record the name of your seeds, the year they were saved, and other information about the seed variety.
The three seed packets that have a simple design to them have the lines on the front of the packet. This is where you can record the variety name. On the back there is a notes section so you can add more information to your garden seeds.
If you attend seed swaps or a seed exchange, these seed packets are sure to impress other seed savers! If you like to gift seeds to fellow gardeners these free seed packets filled with new seeds would make the perfect gift!
You can even use these packets for your own seed stash! These small packets are close to standard size seed packets so you will be able to fit many seeds in them.
How to make your own DIY seed packets
If you want to create your own seed packets with these templates you can! You can print this design onto cardstock to create a seed packet template. Then you can trace these seed packets on other pieces of paper.
You could use newspapers to make your own seed packets or you could use wrapping paper that would normally go to waste!
How to label your seeds
There are a few pieces of important information that you should include on your seed envelopes. First you need to label the type of seeds in the packet. For example tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots are all different seed types.
Next, you should label the seed variety name. For example, I grow Sheboygan tomatoes. Sheboygan is the variety name and tomato is the seed type.
The next piece of important information that you should write down is when you saved the seeds. This will help you know when the seeds are too old to grow!
Those are all the necessary things that you should put on your seed packets. You can also include information about the variety that you believe is important that you will use for future reference. This can help you grow better plants next year.
